Today's toasters are trying to tell people how precise they are by providing more and more numbers - time with seconds, temperature, power, even humidity.

However, what makes a toast perfect, hot, crispy, brown, tangy, buttered, salted, jammed, textured... None of these evaluations can be measured by a simple number.

Increasingly complex features on the toaster or

oven, and increasingly complex numbers on whether they are actually correct.

The process of seeing toast become crispy and flavourful is beautiful, and we always want to replace it with numbers.

Let Toast Tells When is Done

The red points of light show the present time and the white light shows when it will stop. Adjust the position of the white light bar (the time to end) by turning the knob on the right. The red light point moves to the right with the time and when the photoelectricity coincides with the white light bar the toaster will stop and the bread will rise. I have deliberately discarded the numerical concept of time in favour of using colours to indicate the degree of toasting, with the intention of focusing on the process of toasting the bread.
